Darakht-e Danesh

Ensuring access to education for Afghans in Afghanistan and in neighboring regions.

As of August 2021, Afghanistan became the only country in the world to officially ban women and girls from education. Darakht-e Danesh, meaning “knowledge tree” in Farsi language, is a collection of free virtual educational resources that provide access to education for Afghans in Afghanistan and in neighboring regions, and anyone who wants to learn in English, Farsi\Dari and Pashto.

An offline version of the educational library—consisting of nearly 7,000 resources offered in eight Afghan languages—is available in areas without internet connectivity to ensure educational resources and the right to learn can be fulfilled, even in the most rural and remote areas.
